Sam Hurly’s second photo book, purely comprised of film photos shot during 2020.
387 Pages, limited to 50 copies. Limited 1 per purchase please.
My visual chronicles as a photo dude who wanted to take a step back from finding a perfect frame, and process more thoughtful ones.
The world then obliged: Covid 19 stopped work/travel and suddenly I had all the time I’d like to slow down. I picked up an $80 point and shoot film camera that fit easily into a small pouch on my bike, and daily it became a critical task to see if I could go find something memorable in my bikeable surroundings.
The delve into what was memorable was a development too. Part find real classics, part find funny boring cars; But as a whole, exploring the micro reactions of any time I (as a car person) saw any car, dissecting the thought that may pop into my head, even if just for a second.
Then of course, I put a heavy emphasis on documenting life, friends, and the “normal” elements around you you may forget, be used to, or take for granted. Nothing will be constant as you and the world grow older.
2020 saw just over 3600 film photos, and with so many I had to condense to some point, but not too far in eliminating my babies- photo books are often single photos per page, curated down from a lifetime or years of work into 25 some photos. But that wasnt my year. I shot a lot, and I want that to be saved in print.
I cant wait to show you.
